I have been playing fantasy football for about ten years now. I have found some good websites that really help when making those close decisions. Listed below are some of the sites that I use to gear up for my leagues draft.
I guess I will do my speculation just like everyone else is doing. They are saying in the media, that he will serve 12-18 months. Also, this judge can give him up to five years. I have also heard on ESPN, that on a federal sentence that you usually serve about 85% of that term. Then the rest is at a halfway house. We will all find out what this judge decides in the next few weeks.
I don't know what everyone is all up in arms about, he wasn't that great of a quarterback any way. He can run the ball better than he can pass the ball. If the commissioner ever does lift his suspension of Vick, he would be better to come back as a wide receiver. He doesn't have the body of a running back. If the commissioner doesn't lift the suspension, there is always the CFL or Arena Football.
As a dog owner myself, he deserves anything and everything he gets.
I think with these examples below, I have proved my point. These are courtesy of www.jayski.com.
No #8 for Earnhardt Jr at Hendrick: Hendrick Motorsports will not have the ability to field #8 entries for Dale Earnhardt Jr. when the Sprint Cup Series driver joins the organization in 2008. "We've been working hard to secure the #8 for Dale Jr.'s car number next season," said Marshall Carlson, general manager of Hendrick Motorsports. "Obviously, he has a tremendous history with that number, and we know how important it is to his fans. Unfortunately, we couldn't reach a point where the terms made sense, and now we have to move forward with other options. "We appreciate the efforts of Max Siegel and his team (at Dale Earnhardt Inc.), and are excited about unveiling our plans for 2008 in the near future." No timetable has been set for an announcement of Earnhardt's car number or team sponsor.(Hendrick Motorsports PR)(8-15-2007)
Dale Jr.: Teresa Earnhardt made 'ridiculous' requests for #8: Dale Earnhardt Jr. blames his step-mother Teresa Earnhardt, the owner of Dale Earnhardt Inc., for not allowing the #8 to move with him to Hendrick Motorsports next season. "She either feels too personal about the number, or the rift between me and her is too personal," Earnhardt Jr. said Saturday. "I'm not going to sit here and get personal about this. It's upsetting as hell and unfortunate, but that's just what happens sometimes." Earnhardt Jr. said he never believed he would get the number when he made the decision to leave DEI at the end of this season. "I'm not really all that surprised," he said. "I knew I wasn't going to get the number a long time ago." But Earnhardt Jr. praised DEI president Max Siegel for his efforts in trying to make it happen. Earnhardt Jr. said Siegel worked closely with Kelley Earnhardt Elledge, Junior's sister and business manager. "Max tried his butt off to make it work," Earnhardt Jr. said. "He was trying to talk to Teresa and get some sense into her." Siegel said he had nothing to say about Earnhardt Jr.'s comments on Saturday, but added he might address them Sunday. Teresa Earnhardt was not at Michigan International Speedway on Saturday. She rarely talks to the media. Earnhardt Jr. said negotiations broke down when Teresa asked for part of the licensing revenue, along with wanting the number back after he retired. "Just ridiculous kind of requests," Earnhardt Jr. said. "We just wanted the number, but I was willing to give the number back when I was done driving. I wouldn't have any use for it personally." Earnhardt Jr. said he wanted the number to carry on a family legacy. "I feel like it's an Earnhardt tradition because my grandfather and my dad used it a little bit, too," he said. "I'm using it right now, and I figured that we would be able to keep using it. But unfortunately we're not going to be able to." Earnhardt Jr. is looking forward now. He said he is considering a number in the 80s for his new ride at Hendrick next season. "That's just common sense," he said. "I want a number that I'm going to like. I'll design the shape and the look. We'll build a new identity with that." Earnhardt is trying to look at the bright side. "Maybe it's for the best," he said. "Maybe it's sort of a blessing in disguise to really make a clean break. If I was to get the 8 and allow Teresa to still have control over it, I would still have to deal with it. That is not what I wanted. I have to let it go."(ESPN.com)(8-18-2007)
"It's hard when you have what I call a deadbeat owner that doesn't come to the racetrack. ... You have to be at the racetrack and you have to play the politics of the sport and you have to be a part of your team and you have to understand what's going on." -- Kevin Harvick, on Teresa Earnhardt
It was a good day today. My family and I have been collecting Coke codes all year long. I had my Mom, my sister, and people at work giving me 12 pack flaps. We would go out for walks around town during good weather days and check trash to find caps or flaps for codes. After a lot of searching and code entering, we broke the 6250 point threshold. We should have our Nintendo Wii in two to four weeks.
Last year we collected the Coke codes and our goal was to get a Playstation 2. We were less than 60 points shy when all of a sudden, it was no longer listed on the website. UGH, all that work for not. Not quite so. The Blockbuster $100 Gift Cards were still listed on the site for 750 points. This year they were on there for 1000 points. Yeah, got one of them too. Was able to get six used Playstation games. I digress. I used the Gift Card from last year to purchase a used PS2. Took it home, hooked it up, and the game my son rented didn't boot up. It looked as if the game was scratched up. I took it back and exchanged it. Got home and the game still didn't boot up. My son's best friend came over with some of his games and they didn't boot up either. So, I packed up the PS2 and went back to Blockbuster. I raised hell when I went in there. I told them that they sold me a broken unit. "Oh no sir, we check all the systems we buy used." Sure enough, they hooked it up and it didn't work. By the time I walked out, my son had a PS2 "Thin" in his hands.
The Coke Rewards program ends at the end of the year, unless they decide to go another year. I hope so, I wouldn't mind getting another game system. I have over 1000 points to enter still. We are looking to get a few more different items before it is all done. It would be nice to know if they are going to do it again next year so I can save my points and not use them on lower point items. It would make it easier to go after the higher point prizes.
To all of those that are collecting, good luck. I will be enjoying my brand new Wii.
I haven't blogged in a very long time, as you can see. I have been through alot in the since then. Maybe some day, I will get into all of that mess. So you ask, why revive this blog? Well, fantasy football is going to be starting up in a few weeks. I want to be able to look back at my season and know what I was thinking. It may help in future years to help me win a championship.
There was a rules meeting this past weekend and the major rule change was going from one keeper to three. With keeping a player, their salaries go up. What ever you got the player for last year, you add to their salary. If it is from 1-10 Mil, it goes up 3 Mil. If it is 11+, you add 2 Mil.
Now time to make decisions. I was planning on keeping Chad Johnson anyway. Last year, the rule for the one keeper was he was to be paid 15 Mil. Now I will have to pay him 17 Mil. Looking over the rest of my roster from the 06 season, I got RB Laurence Maroney for a CHEAP 1 Mil. Hell, I will pay 4 Mil to keep a starting RB. Also, to beef up my RBs, which I have been bad at in the past, I am looking to keep Reggie Bush for 12.7 Mil (up from 9.7).
Our league is an auction league with a 100 Mil salary cap. With those three keepers, that is a total of 33.7 Mil. I still have 66.3 for the draft.
Listed below is my 2006 roster.
QBs Ben Roethlisberger 16.1 Charlie Batch 1.0 Matt Hasselbeck 10.5 RBS Reggie Bush 9.7 Julius Jones 8.6 Laurence Maroney 1.0 WRS Chad Johnson 15.0 Chris Henry 2.1 Anquan Boldin 11.4 Bernard Berrian 1.0 Marty Booker 1.0 Santana Moss 7.8 TEs Desmond Clark 1.0 Jason Witten 4.0 Ks Neil Rackers 5.1 Olindo Mare 1.0 Def Chiefs 1.0 Saints 1.0
If you think I should "Keep" a different player than what I listed above, please let me know. I will listen to anything and consider it. Keepers list is due August 31.
